As your kids grow I think you start looking for ways to draw out the qualities that you value by offering them various activities to stimulate their enthusiasm. Dave’s family was very centered on sports, so he made sure the kids started playing Little League and soccer from an early age. I wanted to make sure they got the balance of cultural instruction as well, but neither of them seemed all too interested in music. It was an ongoing exploration, the fruits of which might not show up for years to come.
